RESULTS: Regardless of the triggering agents chosen (PMA, E. coli, TNF-alpha/FMLP), remifentanil, fentanyl, and alfentanil had no significant effect on the neutrophils' respiratory burst even in concentrations which were higher than those encountered during in vivo conditions.
