Prof Irena Spasic
Professor (University of Cardiff)
Biography
I am a Professor in the School of Computer Science & Informatics, specialising in Health Informatics, which has been recognised as an important growth area in Cardiff University's strategic plan. The recent merger of the Welsh National School of Medicine with Cardiff University has created unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research. The Health Informatics Research Community spans multiple disciplines within Cardiff University, linked by their common interests in health informatics. I have joined this expanding interdisciplinary team, which represents an explicit cross-School community of interest. In doing so, we hope to break down some of the historical barriers of the discipline-oriented approach and to foster the growth of deeper collaborations between clinicians, general practitioners, health informaticians and computer scientists.Publications
